Rosemary Rosmarinus officinalis oil: 8 drops
Lavandin Lavandula intermedia oil: 8 drops
Eucalyptus Eucalyptus smithii oil: 5 drops
Tea tree Australia Melaleuca alternifolia oil: 5 drops
Peppermint Mentha ×piperita oil: 4 drops
Drop the oils into a bowl of hot water and mix. Place the bowl close to a heat source (a radiator, heater, or fireplace will work well) or in a diffusor. At the same time soak a washcloth in the bowl, wring it out, and place it over the chest as a warm compress. This formula can also be dropped onto cotton balls and placed between the pillow and pillow cover.
Note: Do not use with young children (i.e., children younger than ten), as both camphor and 1,8 cineole can be toxic for young children if inhaled. 1,8 cineole has been reported to cause serious poisoning in young children when accidentally instilled into the nose. The author also cautions that even for a child older than ten, use this formula with extreme care.
